Logo Design for UAE Free Zone Companies
If you are setting up in a UAE free zone, your logo is needed sooner than you think. Free zone registration can complete in under a week — IFZA processes new registrations in 5–7 working days once documents are in — and the moment your licence is issued, signage, banking and printing all start asking for artwork.
This guide covers what free zone companies specifically need, and why commissioning the logo during setup rather than after is the version that works.
Free zone setup is fast, which is the problem
The UAE has more than 40 free zones, and competition between them has pushed both prices and timelines down.
| Zone | Indicative starting cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Meydan Free Zone | From AED 12,500 | Fully digital licence, 100% ownership, up to 3 activity groups, flexi-desk |
| IFZA | Foundation package AED 12,500 | 1 activity, 0 visas, flexi-desk; +1 visa AED 15,900. Registers in 5–7 working days |
| RAKEZ | Typically 20–40% below Dubai zones | Genuine industrial park, warehouses from 250 sqm |
| SHAMS | No deposit required | No physical presence in the UAE required to establish |
Costs and packages change — confirm current pricing directly with the zone or your setup consultant.
That speed is excellent for getting trading. It is less excellent if branding has not been considered, because a five-day setup leaves very little room to commission design work afterwards.
What your free zone actually requires
Not a logo. No UAE free zone requires a logo to issue a trade licence. Your application needs your trade name, activity, shareholder documents and fees.
What the process does fix is your trade name in English and Arabic — and that is what your logo has to be built around.
Where the logo becomes necessary is immediately afterwards: signage if you take a physical unit or a shared office with a name board; corporate bank account opening, where company profile documents and a basic web presence help; business cards, needed the week you start meeting people; your website and social profiles; and invoices and quotations, which usually go out sooner than expected.
The trade name rule that catches people out
Your signage must match the name on your licence.
This sounds obvious and still causes problems, because founders frequently want a shortened, tidier version on the sign than the full registered name — or they use a different Arabic transliteration than the one recorded on the licence.
Under Dubai’s signage framework, only one trade name is permitted per shopfront, and it must match the name on the trade licence. Where Arabic appears, it must occupy at least 50% of the sign space, positioned above or to the right of the English.
The practical consequence: design your logo around the exact registered wording, in both languages, from the start. Reserve your trade name, get the official English and Arabic spellings, then commission the logo. Doing it the other way round means redesigning.
Flexi-desk and virtual offices
Many free zone packages — including the entry-level Meydan and IFZA options — come with a flexi-desk rather than a private unit. If that is you, shopfront signage may not apply at all.
Your logo still matters, just in different places: bank onboarding, your website, LinkedIn and social profiles, invoices, proposals, and your WhatsApp Business profile. For a company without a physical location, those are your storefront — arguably making the logo more important, not less.
Businesses without a visible office are judged more heavily on their digital presentation. Getting it right is worth the small cost.
Timing it properly
Step 1 — Reserve your trade name. Get the exact English and Arabic spellings confirmed.
Step 2 — Commission your logo immediately. With a 48–72 hour turnaround, your logo can be finished and approved while your licence is still processing.
Step 3 — Licence issues. You already have vector artwork ready.
Step 4 — Signage, cards, bank, website all move without waiting on design.
This costs no more than doing it afterwards. It simply removes the bottleneck — and removes the rush fees and rushed decisions that come with it.

What free zone companies should ask for
Vector source files (.AI, .EPS, .SVG). Your signage contractor will require them.
Arabic and English versions designed together. Not translated afterwards — designed as a pair so both carry equal visual weight, which the 50% signage rule effectively requires.
Colour and black-and-white versions. Stamps, invoices and single-colour printing all need mono.
Small-size legibility. Your logo will be a WhatsApp Business avatar and a LinkedIn profile image at a few hundred pixels.
Full ownership, so you can register it as a trademark with the Ministry of Economy later. See our ownership guide.
Getting it done during setup
QuickFicks designs logos for AED 99, with concepts in 48 to 72 hours and no advance payment — you pay only after approving the design you want.
For a company registering in 5–7 working days, that means your logo is typically ready before your licence is.
Included:
- 5+ original concepts from a human designer, drawn from your brief
- Unlimited revisions on your chosen direction
- AI editable source file, plus PNG, JPG and PDF
- Colour and black-and-white versions
- Font names used, so future work matches
- Arabic and English versions designed together
- One free visiting card or letterhead
Send your trade name in English and Arabic exactly as reserved. You supply the Arabic spelling — it is a legal detail on your licence, not a design decision.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a logo to register a free zone company in the UAE?
No. Free zone licence applications require your trade name, activity, shareholder documents and fees. A logo is not required for registration.
How quickly can a UAE free zone company be registered?
It varies by zone. IFZA processes new registrations in 5–7 working days once documents are submitted. Confirm timelines with your chosen zone.
Which free zone is cheapest?
Costs change frequently. Meydan and IFZA foundation packages start around AED 12,500, and RAKEZ typically prices 20–40% below Dubai zones. Confirm current pricing directly.
Does my free zone company need Arabic signage?
If you have a physical unit with a name board, very likely. Requirements vary by emirate, free zone and landlord — confirm with your zone authority or signage contractor.
Does my logo have to match my trade licence name?
Your signage must match the licensed name, and only one trade name is permitted per shopfront. Design around the exact registered wording.
I have a flexi-desk, not an office. Do I still need a logo?
Yes — for bank onboarding, your website, social profiles, invoices and proposals. Without a physical location, your digital presentation carries more weight, not less.
Can I trademark my logo as a free zone company?
Yes, through the UAE Ministry of Economy, provided you own the design outright. Official fees are around AED 6,500 for a single class.
